Hello Henry!

Unique Places to Workout in Buffalo, NY

For fitness buffs, losing out on a day of training can leave you feeling sluggish, groggy, and frankly, a little disappointed. On a typical day, it’s easy to navigate your favorite studios, spins, and gyms to get your workout in – but what happens when you’re traveling? While Buffalo may not be the fitness capital of the world, the city is packed full of unique fitness options for local residents or travelers looking to break a sweat during their stay. For the adventurous type, Buffalo has a variety of locally owned studios with workout classes ready to challenge, excite, and help you stay in shape!

Remember, attending a class that is harder than what you’re typically used to can have negative effects on your body. Always make sure to check the class description or go at your own pace to avoid injury.

Revolution is one of Buffalo’s first spin studios**. They offer multiple classes for different levels and lengths. Spinning allows you to go at your own pace. While there is an instructor coaching you through each class, it’s encouraged that you know your limits and never push yourself too hard. Start small with their basic RevRide classes focusing on strength, endurance, and speed. For the experienced cyclist, Revolution offers harder classes that provide the speed and encouragement you need to complete a challenging and successful workout. Revolution also offers additional classes like Rev + Total Body that combine cardio, strength training, in a high-energy, party-style class.

Revolution is located at 1716 Main Street Buffalo, NY 14209

**BikeOrBar was Buffalo’s first boutique spinning studio.

Power Yoga

Power Yoga is not your typical yoga studio. Their practice focuses on breath, flow, and heat. The studio offers three different types of classes: All Levels, Power Yoga Basics, and Power Hour. Each class is led by an experienced instructor trained in the Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga system. Rooms are heated to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, so bring plenty of water and pace yourself! The instructors are patient, helpful, and knowledgeable. Although it is yoga, the heat is an added challenge to even the most experienced yogi. Expect to feel limber, relaxed, and fulfilled after completing a class at Power Yoga.

Power Yoga has three convenient locations around Western New York.

Established by two local dancers in early 2012, the workouts include combinations of ballet, Pilates, yoga, orthopedic stretching, balance, and cardio. These classes create a total body workout that keep you feeling refreshed and energized throughout the day. The format also promotes flexibility, toning, and resistance.

BikeOrBar in Buffalo’s Elmwood Village began as a spinning and barre studio and quickly added many other unique fitness classes to their offerings. BikeOrBar’s classes include a Hip Hop Spin class where riders workout to explicit hip hop music and work in additional arm movements to the beat of the music. To go along with BikeOrBar’s alternative approach to working out, the studio also offers twerking classes, aerial workouts, indoor water rowing, yoga, Pilates, Pylo combination classes performed to loud dubstep music under black lights, and more. BikeOrBar’s distinct style sets it apart from all other studios and gyms in the area.
