Ahh, summertime in Buffalo – for WNY natives, we know that it is one of the best times of the year. There are concerts, art shows, and festivals aplenty, and best yet, it’s the time when some of the area’s best outdoor markets open for business.
Whether you’re looking for farm-fresh vegetables, an opportunity to see some products from local vendors, or you just want to enjoy a cocktail and a snack, there’s a market just for you somewhere in Buffalo this summer.
1. ELMWOOD VILLAGE FARMER’S MARKET
Hotel Henry’s Urban Resort Neighborhood is the right place to start your search for the perfect summer market experience. Brimming with new and established local businesses, it’s no surprise that one of Buffalo’s favorite markets happens in the Elmwood Village. The Elmwood Village Farmer’s Market is a producer-only market, meaning this market welcomes only vendors who sell what they grow or make themselves, making this market a great way to support local farmers and artisans.
The Elmwood Village Farmer’s Market takes place each Saturday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, rain or shine, at the corner of Elmwood and Bidwell Parkway. Set aside a little extra time after your market visit to explore all of the wonderful brick and mortar shop that line Elmwood Avenue. Don’t be surprised if your market morning turns into a whole day of shopping that bleeds into an evening of great food, drinks, and company.
2. THE DOWNTOWN BUFFALO COUNTRY MARKET
A country market in the middle of downtown Buffalo? Absolutely! Geared towards office workers, residents, and visitors of downtown Buffalo, this market is the place to pick up fresh produce and baked goods during a day spent in our city center.
Have too many weekend plans but still need your summer market fix? Don’t worry, even summer markets have weekday business hours. Open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM The Downtown Buffalo Country Market located on both sides of Main Street between Court and Church Streets might be our favorite lunch break destination.
This open-air market is a part of The Pride of New York Program, promoting New York State products in partnership with its members, who take pride in growing, processing and selling a diverse range of food and agricultural products.
