On November 27th, from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM, Jen will be bringing her “Best Holiday Ever Workshop” to Hotel Henry. Make this upcoming season the best holiday ever by beginning intentionally. Take time out for a cozy evening to relax and reconnect with what would truly make this time of year meaningful and joyful for you. Through meditation and open discussion, Jen will lead a conversation dedicated to reconnecting with what truly matters most during the holidays.
It’s the Most ‘Wonderful’ Time of the Year
Ahhhh, the Holidays. The time between November 1st and New Year’s Day when all the commercials are designed to make you cry or want to buy a puppy; grocery stores are stocked with chocolate peppermint versions of every food, and the childhood traditions you used to love now create anxiety because it seems impossible to find the time to deliver on them. Or is that just me.
A few years ago my husband and I talked about how to really shift the paradigm around what the holidays are like for us. What felt meaningful and fun and what didn’t? Is it possible to shift the balance more towards fun and meaning and less unconscious spending or doing things out of pure obligation? We didn’t necessarily find a perfect equation, but we did start the conversation.
Ironically, I’m writing this in the midst of a family trip to Disney World, and it is not lost on me that the Disney mantra of ‘Happiest Place on Earth’ is basically setting up the same high expectations as ‘Most Wonderful Time of the Year.’ I consider myself an eternal optimist and an extremely positive person: and even for me, I’m nervous about setting up this kind of lofty expectation.
Let’s talk realities: Disney is a lot like the holidays. Sprinkled moments of the greatest family magic ever on a foundation of a major financial commitment while looking around and asking yourself, ‘who are all these people?’.
What is possible to actually make this time of year more ‘Wonderful’?
I’m excited to lead this conversation at the Hotel Henry with the intention of each person leaving with at least one actionable way of making a positive and real difference in their experience of the holiday season. What really matters to you and what doesn’t? What are our expectations and where is there room to pivot into more ease? This is what we’ll focus on over a cozy holiday tea or cocktail- with humor, levity and an open mind.
Please bring a journal and pen, the class will involve meditation, open discussion, and journaling. Tickets are available for “Best Holiday Ever Workshop” at a cost of $25 plus tax and fees.
