Buffalo's Independent Concept Urban Resort

Recently named one of TIME’s Greatest Places of 2018, Hotel Henry is an original-concept urban resort hotel and conference center that offers upscale modern accommodations designed to fuse with the architectural legacy of a National Historic Landmark campus. Hotel Henry’s historic setting offers a distinct cosmopolitan experience within vast unexpected creative spaces marked by the iconic 185-foot-tall Richardson Towers. Hotel Henry’s Urban Resort is distinctive from the type of “resort” that most travelers expect. Instead, the surrounding city of Buffalo – its galleries and cultural institutions, architecture, nearby parks… are the treasures to be enjoyed. Centrally located in Buffalo’s cultural corridor and vibrant Elmwood Village, the urban resort is steps from world-class museums and galleries, Olmsted-designed parks, and a bustling dining and shopping district.

Introducing modern meeting spaces within a massive National Historic Landmark building, Hotel Henry has grown to be the most sought after meeting and event venue in the region. Events are set amid Frederick Law Olmsted-designed grounds and gardens, and in unique spaces that go beyond the traditional ballroom. Guests and event attendees enjoy bright, open conference spaces, contemporary art, minimalist design, and a dedicated scratch kitchen. Throughout the building, Hotel Henry’s uncommon spaces invite guests to explore, gather and tuck away in the unique character of Richardson’s masterpiece. Interior and exterior spaces invite guests to find their own corner and make their own experience. An experience inclusive of personalized service, detail-oriented standards and high-tech amenities delivered by a dedicated team of experienced professionals.

A Bit of Background

Opened in April 2017, Hotel Henry Urban Resort Conference Center makes innovative new use of one of Western New York’s most iconic architectural landmarks. Widely considered to be one of Buffalo’s most important and beautiful buildings, construction on the 145-year-old Richardson Olmsted Campus began in 1872 and opened in 1880 as the state-of-the-art Buffalo State Asylum for the Insane. Now, with generous private funding from CityInn Buffalo, LLC hospitality group (owned by Diana Principe, Geno Principe, and Dennis Murphy), New York State, and historic tax credits, Hotel Henry Urban Resort Conference Center is proud to open a new chapter for the campus and surrounding neighborhoods.

Locally owned and operated by CityInn Buffalo, LLC, Hotel Henry Urban Resort Conference Center is proud to be the first phase and 1/3 of the redevelopment of the Richardson Olmsted Campus, bringing new life and meaning to the National Historic Landmark.
