Big Ditch Beer Pairing
A Big Ditch Takeover of 100 Acres
MONDAY, MARCH 25
Let’s be honest – March is a cold, slushy, wet, and oftentimes gloomy month for Buffalo. Good thing for us, we have great beer and comfort food to get us through. 100 Acres is teaming up with Big Ditch Brewing Company for a “can winter be over yet” craft beer tasting and food pairing. Each $45 ticket includes four five oz pours of Big Ditch craft beer, one full draft Big Ditch beer of your choosing, and four tasting plates to complement the brews. Taxes and gratuity are included in the price of your ticket.
- Hayburner (5oz pour): A luscious and citrusy IPA with primary notes of orange, melon, and grapefruit, and a slightly earthy finish. It packs a firm bitterness but remains balanced by abundant late hop additions and a soft and airy malt base. Paired with scallop ceviche, grapefruit, salsa verde, fermented radish, and seeded rye toast.
- Excavator (5oz pour): A rye brown ale that incorporates seven different malts to achieve a rich, yet smooth flavor and balance. It is highlighted by judicious amounts of chocolate malt, with a subtle, spicy finish from the use of flaked rye. Paired with spiced lamb loin, pistachio dukkah, smoked onion, and lamb jus.
- Beautiful River (5oz pour): A popular origin of the city of Buffalo’s name was a mispronunciation of a Frenchman’s exclamation upon first sight of the Buffalo River. Beautiful River (or “Beau Fleuve”) is a refreshing Belgian-style farmhouse ale featuring floral, pear, and pepper notes, which was brewed to commemorate the origins of our city. To pair with Plato Dale Farm steak tartare, root vegetable chips, and sunflower mayonnaise.
- Low Bridge Beer (5oz pour): This bright, slightly fruity, and very hoppy golden ale features old-world American and German hops. Low Bridge has an impressive depth of flavor, yet is also extremely drinkable and will always serve you well. To pair with an almond meringue sandwich with olive oil and citrus.
